LawPay Look-Back: 2021 Year in Review
While 2021 has been yet another unpredictable year, we at LawPay are proud of the ways we’ve been able to empower legal professionals to reach new heights over the past 12 months.
We’ve appreciated the opportunities to connect in person once again while still serving you and your firm virtually through our personalized customer support and continuing legal education (CLE) courses. We’ve also successfully launched several new features this year designed specifically to benefit you and your clients.
Before we kick off 2022, we wanted to share some of the ways we’ve set out to support legal professionals like you over the past year.
118 Events Attended
Although many events remained virtual, this year did offer us a few opportunities to safely attend a handful of in-person exhibitions, conferences, and conventions.
We were fortunate to have had the chance to meet and chat with prospective and current customers at 118 in-person and virtual legal industry events in 2021. Attending and sponsoring these events helps us stay connected with our customers and the legal community, and we’re incredibly grateful for all of the questions, feedback, and support we received this year.
For those of you who took the time to share with us your suggestions on how we can make LawPay even better, we offer a sincere thank you. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue on our mission to solidify LawPay’s position as the leader in online payments for legal professionals.
112 CLE Webinars Hosted
Obtaining your annual CLE credits can often be challenging when you already have a packed schedule. We're proud to have the resources in-house that allow us to offer CLE webinars that are not only convenient but also informative and engaging.
This year, LawPay offered 112 live online CLE courses discussing the most relevant topics for legal professionals. All of our CLE webinars are available at no charge and are hosted by practicing attorneys Claude Ducloux and Jordan Turk.
Claude, LawPay's Director of Education, and Jordan, LawPay's Law Practice Advisor, tackled everything from U.S. nationality and immigration laws to the modern communication practices that can help you become an effective problem-solver, among many other topics.

5 New Features Launched
Whether you’re new to LawPay or a longtime user, 2021 has been an exciting time for those taking advantage of online payments. Our team rolled out five new features this year, including:
Surcharging Account Updater Card Vault In-App Card Scanner QR Codes
Surcharge: In February, we announced an update to our surcharging functionality that simplifies the process of applying a surcharge in compliance with payment industry regulations. (To learn more about credit card surcharging, check out Credit Card Surcharge Rules for Law Firms 101.)
Account Updater: Account Updater helps keep your revenue flowing by preventing failed transactions on recurring Scheduled Payments. This feature regularly reviews stored payment methods to determine if the payment information is still valid and then automatically updates account numbers and expiration dates using data from the issuing bank.
Card Vault: With Card Vault, you can safely keep client payment information on file without increasing your PCI compliance obligations. Store clients’ preferred payment methods in our secure, encrypted vault and then easily run future transactions without having to recapture or re-enter their payment information.
In-App Card Scanner: Capture a client’s card information in seconds with our in-app card scanner. Rather than using a physical card reader or manually keying in a client’s card details, the card scanner within the LawPay mobile app allows you to use the camera on your mobile device to collect the cardholder’s name, card number, and expiration date.
QR Codes: Give your clients the option to pay invoices directly from their mobile devices with our QR code payment functionality. When a client scans your unique QR code, they will be redirected to your secure LawPay payment page where they can enter their credit card or eCheck information and submit payment instantly.
All of these tools are available with your LawPay account and are designed to make the payment experience simple, secure, and surprisingly great for both you and your clients.
136,558 Calls and Emails Answered
The one-of-a-kind LawPay customer service team was essential in making 2021 a great year, and it started with you.
Your inquiries and support questions added up to 136,558 phone calls and emails being answered by our in-house team of Certified Payments Professionals (CPPs). That’s 136,558 times that our team was able to help make your payments (and, hopefully, your day) a little bit better.
If you ever have any questions or concerns (or feedback!), you can give us a call or send us an email to speak with one of our legal payments experts. You’ll never get a call center or a phone tree on the other end, just a warm greeting.
Over the past year, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed serving you and the 50,000 other law firms using LawPay. As we use this time to unwind from a busy year and look ahead to the next, we want you to know the LawPay team is here for you and ready to help you face new challenges. We’re already looking forward to more ways to enhance your LawPay experience in the new year, but most of all, we’re excited to see what we achieve together in 2022!
